Bingo Card Ideas & Ready-to-Copy Word Lists

Staring at a blank word list is the slowest part of making themed bingo cards. Each list below is written to work well at both the 4x4 (16 words) and 5x5 (24 words, with a free center space) grid sizes; copy one, paste it straight into the "My own words / phrases" box on the bingo card generator, trim or add a few items to match your exact group, and generate. Every list here uses short, screen-and-print-friendly entries on purpose, since long phrases shrink to fit a small square.

Classroom Vocabulary Bingo

General-purpose review words that work for a quick classroom energizer regardless of subject; swap in this week's actual spelling or vocabulary list for a real review session.

Baby Shower Bingo

Guess-the-gift and baby-related prompts that work for almost any baby shower, no matter the parents' actual preferences.

Birthday Party Bingo

Works for a kid's party or an adult birthday alike; swap in inside jokes about the guest of honor for a more personal set.

Office & Meeting Icebreaker Bingo

Common meeting buzzwords and remote-work moments for a lighthearted office icebreaker or virtual meeting game.

Holiday Party Bingo

General holiday-season prompts for an office party, family gathering, or classroom party in December.

Travel & Road Trip Bingo

Sights and sounds to spot from a car, bus, or plane window; good for keeping kids (or bored adults) occupied on a long trip.

Sports Watch-Party Bingo

Commentary clichés and predictable moments to listen for during a big game, useful for any sport once the specific terms are swapped in.

Wedding & Engagement Party Bingo

Toast clichés and reception moments to check off during speeches, dancing, and the rest of the reception.

New Employee Onboarding Bingo

A friendlier alternative to a plain orientation checklist for someone's first week or two on the job.

How These Lists Were Put Together

Each theme above was built the same way: start from the situations and objects an average person in that setting would actually notice or say, keep every entry short enough to fit a small printed square, and avoid anything so specific it would only make sense to one particular group. That last point is deliberate. A generic list is meant to be a starting point you finish, not a finished product you print unedited; the "Building Your Own List" section further down covers exactly how to take one of these and make it feel personal to the actual people playing.

Building Your Own List

These lists are deliberately generic starting points, not a finished product for every group. A list built specifically for the people in the room, such as inside jokes, a coworker's well-known habits, or the guest of honor's favorite things, almost always plays better than a purely generic one. Aim for 16–24 short entries (a few words each, not full sentences) so you have enough for a 4x4 or 5x5 grid with some room to spare, then use the step-by-step guide if you want more detail on grid sizes, free spaces, and printing a full set.

Whichever list you start from, nothing you paste into the generator is uploaded anywhere; every card is built and printed entirely inside your own browser, as explained on the privacy policy. That also means it is completely fine to paste something a little more personal, like a coworker's name or an inside joke, without worrying about it ending up in a public gallery.

Frequently asked questions

How many words do I need for a bingo card?
A 5x5 grid needs 24 words with a free center space, or 25 without. A 4x4 grid needs 16. A 3x3 grid needs 8 with a free space, or 9 without. The lists on this page are sized for 16-24 words so they work at both 4x4 and 5x5.
Can I mix and match items from different lists?
Yes. Copy items from more than one list, or add your own, then paste the combined list into the generator's word box on the homepage.
Do these lists work for a printed card, an online game, or both?
Both. The generator produces the same card either way; print it with the "Print / Save as PDF" button, or simply read it on screen if you are calling out items rather than a formal number-based game.
What if I only need a short list for young kids?
Trim any list down to 8 items and choose a 3x3 grid with the free center space on; shorter, simpler words tend to work best at that size.
